Mile Markers

I have been looking back to look forward. The how I got here to see what I need to do keep moving forward. Because it is always about the simple daily steps and consistency that works…no magic pill, no overnight-wonder or the perfect green smoothie that changes who you are…. it’s about drinking that damn smoothie day after day even when you want a chocolate chip cookie in the morning.

I feel like I have been running forever, lol. It all started when Kate was one year old… mommy time-out to breathe.

Some of the mile markers along the way

  1. Find your tribe. It’s all about creating the habit and surrounding yourself with people to wipe away the sweat (and sometimes tears). Women who are going to show up when you feel like hitting the snooze button.

  2. Get on track and find your rhythm. Find your happy pace… the sweet spot of getting uncomfortable but something you can do for a while…. sprinting and going out too fast leads to burnout and too much coach time.

  3. Moving miles. The actual time you spend on the roads or trails (last resort treadmill…sorry…the hamster wheel makes me crazy and is only a last resort if you reaalllyyy have to). Stretching, technique, clothing, and running shoes.

  4. Between the miles. ahhhhh seriously THIS is where the magic happens. Your sleep, recovery and repair, stress level, fuel, hydration, and immune support.

  5. Roadblocks. Injuries, chafing, fatigue, sore muscles, joint issues, adrenal support, immune system, motivation.
