Warming Up & Cooling Down With Your Essential Oils
Due to their chemical makeup, some essential oils can be used to provide your body with soothing comfort by creating a warming or cooling sensation when applied topically. They are useful for us before, during, and after a workout because they can help soothe different areas of the body after topical application.
Warm-Up
Using essential oils for warming properties helps your muscles and limbs feel loose and flexible and limber before you rock the jog.
Warming oils need to be diluted because they are spicy by nature.
How: drop 2 drops plus Fractionated Coconut oil onto palm and rub onto ankles, calves, hamstrings (or target your weak points) to increase circulation and get your muscles primed to move.
Or if you find an oil you love pre-jog...make a dropper bottle with 10 drops of oil and fill it with FCO for an easy-to-go application as you head out the door.
Examples:
Black Pepper
Cassia
Cinnamon Bark
Clove
Frankincense
Wintergreen
Cool-down
Essential oils are awesome for your cool-down or at the end of your workout post-shower. Cooling oils help soothe the muscles after you move miles.
You don’t have to dilute cooling oils, but it’s always good to massage muscles to increase circulation when using oils for recovery and repair. (also if you have sensitive skin...you will want to add some fractionated coconut oil.)
You will feel a tingle with these oils...so get ready to smile. (I love it)
Again, add 2-3 drops to fractionated coconut oil and massage, or make a dropper with 10-15 drops oil plus FCO.
Cooling oils:
Basil
Cardamon
Peppermint
Deep blue BLEND (oil or rub)
